Abstract:

The Yamama Formation, which is a heterogeneous carbonate reservoir, is one of the most important oil production reservoirs deposited into shallow marine environments during (L. Berriasian  E. Hauterivian) period within the Stratigraphic column of Lower Cretaceous in south of Iraq and it is assigned a Valangenian age.

Abu Amood oil field is locates at south eastern Iraq in Missan province and is approximately 16 km north Rifai city (Longitudes. 45.30-46.30 E. and Latitudes. 31.00-32.00 N.) It is ranked as economically attractive production/exploration area. Five wells penetrate the Yamama Formation in Abu Amood oil field and all of them were selected for this study that their data was available when this study had been selected.
The study of Yamama Formation reservoir in Abu Amood Oil field include Petrographic and facies analysis of Yamam Formation to study the effects of diagenetic processes on the petrophysical properties.Well log interpretation and determination of the petrophysical properties for each reservoir units in Yamama formation using available logs data in (IP) Program and finally building a 3D geological & Petrophysical modeling includes structural, facies and petrophysical models using Petrel software.
