In this work Graphene oxide*(GO) has been produced from graphite flakes by Hammers method. Then a water emulsion of the produced GO transferred to simple electrodeposition two electrodes cell for electrodeposition and reduction of GO on a cathode made of carbon steel C45 while the anode was a platinum foil, the produced GO and reduced GO (rGO) were subjected to FTIR, SEM, and AFM analysis.
The corrosion behaviors of uncoated and rGO coated carbon steel C45 samples in artificial seawater were studied using three electrodes potentiostat at four temperatures, namely; 20, 30, 40, and 50ᴼC.The study included anodic, cathodic polarization and all corrosion parameters were investigated including; Ecorr, Icorr, corrosion rates, corrosion protection efficiencies, and energy activation barriers Ea.
The synthesized GO shows FTIR transmission bands of the C-O, O-H, C=C, and C-H bonds while the deposited rGO exhibited only aromatic C=C, and C-H bonds which proofs the formation and post complete reduction the GO.
The AFM and SEM images revealed the formation of multilayers of GO and rGO nanoplates.
