In this work, pure as well as Tungsten chloride doped vanadium pentoxide V2O5 thin films were prepared via sol-gel process. The coating solutions were prepared starting from vanadium (V) oxytripropoxide as precursors and anhydrous isopropanol as solvent. The films were deposited by dip-coating technique on microscope glass as well as ITO-Delta glass with a rate of 6 cm/min and next heat-treated at 300 oC during 1h. The films samples were characterized optical measurements. The morphology of the films was studied by scan electronic microscopic (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The xereogel films of vanadium oxide were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR analysis. The feasibility for use of these films in thermochromic application was investigated.
